Astroscale Secures £11.78m To Revolutionise Satellite Servicing

Astroscale, a pioneering space technology company, has been awarded a substantial £11.78 million contract to further develop its groundbreaking technology for servicing satellites in orbit. This investment marks a significant milestone in the company's mission to extend the lifespan of satellites and enhance the sustainability of space operations.

The funding will be used to advance Astroscale's capabilities in satellite servicing, which includes tasks such as refueling, repairing, and upgrading satellites while they are in orbit. By extending the operational life of these vital assets, Astroscale aims to reduce the need for frequent satellite launches, thereby mitigating the growing problem of space debris.

The new phase includes "flight model assembly, integration and testing, launch and commissioning", through to in-orbit activities, such as successfully docking, de-orbiting, and releasing spacecraft.

Astroscale said it was committed to paving the way "for the future of space sustainability and satellite servicing".

The contract is a testament to Astroscale's position as a global leader in space technology. As the company continues to innovate and develop its satellite servicing solutions, it is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space exploration and commercialisation.
