A Historic Flight Concludes: Ingenuity, Mars' First Helicopter, Reaches Ground After Three-Year Mission

NASA's Mars Helicopter Ingenuity, the tiny pioneer that made history as the first powered aircraft to fly on another world, has completed its mission after three years of groundbreaking exploration.

Ingenuity landed its 72nd flight on January 18th, 2024, near its airfield in Jezero Crater. Although designed for just five experimental flights, the little chopper defied expectations, exceeding its lifespan and mission goals tenfold.
