HyImpulse Secures CAA First Flight License For Saxavord

HyImpulse, a rising star in the launch vehicle industry, has achieved a major milestone. The company has received its first flight license from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for its sounding rocket. This paves the way for a series of exciting launches planned for later this year.

The green light from the CAA comes after a rigorous testing campaign conducted by HyImpulse in collaboration with the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS). NMIS, supported by funding from Innovate UK, provided metrology expertise to ensure the engine's safety and performance through a series of ground tests.

"This licensing approval is a key moment for HyImpulse," said [Name of HyImpulse CEO], CEO of HyImpulse. "It signifies the culmination of our team's dedication and the successful completion of a comprehensive testing phase."

The HyImpulse sounding rocket is designed for suborbital scientific research missions. With the first launch tentatively scheduled for Australia this April, the company plans consecutive launches later in the year from the SaxaVord spaceport in the Shetland Islands, Scotland. This launch will mark the largest ever vertical launch of a hybrid rocket from the UK.

Konstantin Tomilin, chief operating officer, HyImpulse said: “With the latest round of testing, we are another step closer to launching the rocket and the support from NMIS has been instrumental in getting us to this point.

“The hybrid system provides a more cost-effective and efficient way to launch payloads into space and will be a game changer in getting small satellites into orbit. Our propulsion system is poised to push the boundaries of hybrid rocket technology and we look forward to seeing the impact this new technology will have on the industry as a whole.”

HyImpulse's success story highlights the growing global trend of private companies entering the launch vehicle market. This achievement is a significant step forward for HyImpulse and paves the way for further innovation in the field of suborbital spaceflight. The skies are no longer the limit for scientific exploration, and HyImpulse is poised to play a key role in this exciting future.
