Media Invitation: Information Session From ESA’s 317th Council In Paris

The ESA Council will hold its 317th session on 18 and 19 October 2023 in Paris, France. This session will address, among other topics, the improved sharing of Earth observation data for environmental purposes, including enhanced cooperation with Poland, and preparations for the Space Summit to be held in November 2023. An information session for media will be held at the end of the meeting on Thursday 19 October 2023 between 14:00 and 15:00 CEST.

It will be the first ESA Council meeting chaired by the new ESA Council Chair Renato Krpoun (Switzerland), who began his tenure on 1 July.

ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher and Renato Krpoun will give an update to media on plans for ESA to cooperate with the UN’s Environment Programme on the use of Earth observation data and technology for the environment, as well as providing assistance to Poland for its national Earth observation project.

The 317th ESA Council meeting will provide updates to the Financial Framework Partnership Agreement between ESA and the EU.

Finally, the meeting will discuss the latest plans for a Space Summit to be held on 6 and 7 November in Seville, Spain, which will set out ESA’s visionary and ambitious plans to strengthen European competitiveness and autonomy in space.
